New South Wales’ capital city continues to rein as the number one preferred Australian travel destination, beating out Melbourne and the sunny Gold Coast.
Topping Wotif’s domestic destination list for the ninth consecutive year, Sydney continues to receive the majority of bookings with the online booking site, however is quickly followed by its friendly rival city, Melbourne.
Despite reaching the number one spot, Queensland’s cities managed to be the most represented state in the list of top 20 Aussie destinations with up to eight destinations making the chart.
Perth and Adelaide also made the chart sitting at fifth and sixth most popular, while Hobart and Darwin sat at the top ten border in tenth and eleventh place.
Sydney also topped the top ten list of destinations in New South Wales, although followed closely by outer city of Newcastle.
Wollongong managed to shift one place up the list this year compared to last year from seventh to sixth most popular, pushing Albury down.
Dubbo also managed to make its way back into the top ten after falling off last year while pushing last year’s tenth most popular city Port Stephens off the list.
